WENATCHEE- A groundbreaking ceremony Friday afternoon in Wenatchee officially sets in motion construction on a new 176-room Hilton Garden Inn along the city’s Riverside Drive.
Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz says it was a long process for the city to finally get to this point.
“This project has been a long time in the making. I was with Allison today, and we looked at the planning that started in December 2002, to work on Wenatchee’s waterfront to make it a community asset,” Kuntz said. “Over the last 15 years or so, about $155 million of expenditures on our waterfront, including Pybus Market, the streets, waste water treatment plant, Town Toyota Center– great things have been happening along our waterfront.”
Construction of the Hilton Garden Inn will begin immediately on the three-acre vacant lot north of Pybus Market and will take between 16 and 18-months to complete.
The hotel will be four stories, with a large conferencing center for events, a full-service restaurant and bar.
