LEAVENWORTH- A stranded pair of hikers from the Seattle area were rescued near Leavenworth early Thursday morning.
The Wenatchee World reports the hikers, a 34-year old woman from Seattle and a 37-year old Issaquah woman became stranded on a ledge on Cannon Mountain eight miles Southeast of Leavenworth around midnight Wednesday.
The inexperienced hikers found themselves on a three-foot ledge preventing them to go up or down.
To hoist them from the mountain, a winch-capable helicopter was called in from Naval Air Base Whidbey Island. The hikers were rescued safely and dropped off uninjured at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery.
