Highway 2/97 will be closed late Friday as work continues on the West Cashmere Bridge replacement project.
Chelan County Public Works says there will be a one-lane bypass road around the Hay Canyon Road work area for highway traffic from 9:30 p.m. Friday until 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
A Washington State Patrol trooper will be on site to serve as the flagger at the bypass, the county said.
Work on the bridge this week has included the continued placement of girders over the Wenatchee River.
“The nighttime girder placement … will continue into next week, with nighttime closures also scheduled for Oct. 18-20,” the county said.
The $25.5-million-dollar bridge currently under construction will replace a 91-year-old bridge that was deemed unsafe.
