Guilty verdict and life sentence in case of murdered Warden native

CRIPPLE CREEK, Colorado — The fiance of a former Grant County woman earned a sentence Monday of life in prison for her murder.

A Colorado jury convicted Patrick Frazee in the death of his 29-year-old partner Kelsey Berreth. Less than an hour later, the presiding judge sentenced him to life plus 156 years.

Berreth’s body was never found, but police believe Frazee bludgeoned her to death and burned her remains. Frazee’s mistress admitted to helping him disguise evidence of the crime.

Berreth was raised in Warden and worked as a flight instructor in rural Colorado. She and Frazee were engaged to be married, and had a 1-year-old child together.
