Groundbreaking is Thursday for latest Wenatchee hotel

Wenatchee’s boom in new hotels will continue Thursday with a groundbreaking for a 63-room My Place Hotel at 820 Riverside Drive near the Riverside 9 apartments.

It is one of several new hotel projects in the Wenatchee area in the past year.

Some of the new hotels are already open, with others under construction or close to it.

The My Place Hotel is one of three hotel projects near the Apple Capital Loop Trail, joining the recently opened Hilton Garden Inn near Pybus and the planned 127-room Residence Inn by Marriott near Walla Walla Point Park.

Also under construction is an 85-room Sleep Inn and Suites in Olds Station.

The 99-room Fairfield Inn and Suites in East Wenatchee opened in August.

The My Place Hotel groundbreaking will be from 4 to 5 p.m. with the public welcome.

The 30,000-square-foot hotel will be four stories and is part of a chain based in South Dakota. It will be owned by Wenatchee 8 LLC and will be the fourth My Place Hotel in Washington.

It is expected to open in late April or early May 2020.
