U.S. Fish and Wildlife is getting a lot of push back from Washington Counties who are impacted by a plan to reintroduce Grizzly Bears into the North Cascades.
Fish and Wildlife and the National Park Service want to relocate bears from British Columbia and Montana into the North Cascades Wilderness.
Chelan and Skagit County Commissioners met Monday in Ellensburg to coordinate their shared opposition to the Grizzly Bear plan. Chelan County Commissioner Doug England contends the Feds are basing the plan on flawed science.
Commissioners also criticize the plan for failing to address impacted County concerns in a timely manner. They maintain that such a plan would conflict with the County’s current growth management plan.
