(University Place, WA)…After the first day of the State 4A Bowling Championships at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place, the Eastmont girls bowling team has a lot to smile about. The Wildcat’s Cheyanne Greening finished 2nd in the individual competition and were leading in team scoring.
Eastmont coach Jeremy Anders posted the above photo on Facebook and said, “The Eastmont Wildcats team is leading after day 1. Cheyanne Greening followed up a State Championship last year with a 2nd place performance this year. Pretty impressive individual High School career with 4 trips to state. Also Becca Mains finished 9th with strong performance. Proud of all my girls today and we’re excited about a strong finish tomorrow. Shoutout to Jessica Holbrook from Wenatchee finishing 6th place as a sophomore.”
Greening finished just 2-pins shy of medalist Sarah Stolle of South Kitsap who compiled 1,253 (208 avg.) pins over six games. Wenatchee’s Holbrook scored 1,129 (188 avg.). Eastmont’s Becca Mains finished just off the medal stand in 9th with 1,104 pins.
As a team, Eastmont held the first-day lead heading into today’s Bakers with 5,212 pins. Hanford was in 2nd place with 5,161 pins. Anders said prior to the tournament that he felt the Falcons would be the team Eastmont would have to outpace to have a shot at the team title. At the time of this post Saturday morning, Eastmont had pushed its team lead out to 222-pins through 10 Bakers with four remaining (7,111 to Hanford’s 6,889)
