EPHRATA — A Grant County judge will take a seat on the federal bench if President Joe Biden has his way.
Judge David Estudillo has held a Superior Court seat in Grant County for six years, ever since he was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee. Today, Biden nominated the 47-year-old for a judgeship in the Western District of Washington’s federal court, based in Seattle.
Estudillo is a former attorney who practiced in Moses Lake and Wenatchee. His nomination to the lifetime seat must be approved by the U.S. Senate, to replace retired U.S. District Court Senior Judge Ronald Leighton of Tacoma.
Estudillo was one of three federal court nominees the White House announced Thursday. In a statement, the President’s office said all three “are immensely qualified and devoted to the rule of law and our Constitution.”
