WENATCHEE — If you’re still chewing up the asphalt with studded tires, it’s time to remedy that.
Washington drivers have just one week, until May 15, to swap out those heavy-duty winter tires for regular treads. Ordinarily the deadline would have been March 31, but Gov. Jay Inslee and the Department of Transportation extended the deadline so drivers wouldn’t have to crowd into service centers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting Saturday, May 16t, drivers using studded tires face a $136 fine.
