WENATCHEE, WA.-Monday is the deadline to file income tax returns. There’s been an increase in the number of people taking advantage of a free tax preparation service at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center. The service is offered through AARP and the Community Action Council (CAC).

Carly Ludlow is the district coordinator for the CAC. She says the service is available to all who need help. Over 700 people have used the service this year.

NCWLIFE’s Steve Hair also spoke withLudlow and retired IRS employee, Ron Kurpis, who is one of the volunteer tax preparers. He says the changes brought about with the new tax law has caused some confusion for those who’ve filed itemized returns in the past .

The free tax preparation services are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday right up until April 15th. You are required to bring your Social Security card and proof of identity when you register.
