Forest Service employee killed after snow from a roof buries her


Chelan County Fire District 6 personnel are mourning the loss of one of their own after a volunteer firefighter was buried in snow that had fallen from a roof near Blewett Pass.

The fire district said emergency personnel were unable to revive Kimiko Nalle, 46.

The accident happened about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Nalle was a 26-year-employee of the U.S. Forest Service and had been a volunteer with the fire district for 17 years.

She also served on incident management and fire prevention teams.

She is survived by her husband Dave Nalle, a retired Forest Service worker and current deputy chief/fire marshal for Chelan County Fire District 3 in Leavenworth.

“Her loss is felt deeply by the fire and emergency services community,” Chelan Fire District 6 posted on its Facebook page.
