Firefighters quickly contain out-of-control fire in Chelan

A planned burn in an orchard apparently got out of control and ignited a fire on a hillside outside Chelan earlier today.

The fire burned about three acres before being brought under control. Chelan County Fire District 7 Chief Tim Lemon said several agencies, including the state Department of Natural Resources and BLM, were able to assist local firefighters in quickly containing the blaze. Lemon said the fire was off Stayman Flats Road and mostly burned between two orchards.
