LEAVENWORTH – The Leavenworth Fire District 3 Volunteer Association hosted the second annual 10k Firefighter Challenge. The challenge started at Leavenworth Ski Hill. The course consisted of over 16-hundred feet of uphill over roughly 6 miles of the National Forest.
The challenge ended with an uphill sprint to the finish line at 1,420 elevation where the challenge started. Each firefighter wore there personal protection fire gear and a twenty five pound pack. Some challengers also carried their chain saw or fire tools. The entire challenge.

This was the first year, the challenge was open to the public. Some of the public runners dressed in colorful fun outfits.
