EPHRATA-Firefighters put out a fire that scorched about 250 acres of wheatland in the Ephrata area yesterday.
The fire was located West of Ephrata, in the Sagebrush Flats area under some BPA power lines. A neighboring wheat farmer reportedly used his tractor to plow a line around the blaze before firefighters arrived.
The extreme heat and windy conditions were a problem early on but Crews from Grant County Fire District’s 3 and 13 got help from BLM, Forest Service, 2 planes and one helicopter. No structures damaged and no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
