Davis Downs Eastmont 4-3 in Shootout Soccer

As Eastmont fell to Davis, dropping its first Big 9 match of the season, by a final of 4-to-3 in a shootout. The Wildcats led 3-2 at half but Davis tied it in the 50th minute. The game was supposed to be played in Yakima Tuesday but was moved to the Apple Bowl last night. The loss drops Eastmont to 7-and-1 in Big 9 play, a game-and-a-half in front of Davis at 6-and-3 and 2-and-a-half games ahead of 5-and-4 Wenatchee. Be sure and tuned in for the action tomorrow night at 7 o’clock.
On the Prep Calendar for today…
Eastmont is hosting Wenatchee, West Valley and Moses Lake in a track meet this afternoon at 4 o’clock. And in tennis, Wenatchee hosts West Valley while Eastmont’s at Moses Lake at 3 o’clock. Cashmere travels to Ephrata; Chelan hosts Okanogan; Cascade takes on Liberty Bell; and Entiat travels to Tonasket at 4pm.

And on the softball diamonds today…
Cascade has a single game at Naches Valley at 4 while Cashmere hosts Chelan at 4:30.

Leake Runs Into Houston Problem in the 7th

Mike Leake was cruising for the Mariners until the 7th inning last night. That’s when the Houston Astros scored 6-runs, including 3 doubles, and went on for the 7-1 win over Seattle at Safeco Field…
Leake had allowed just one run on four hits with 7 strike outs heading into the 7th. But after a leadoff walk, Yuli Gurriel doubled, Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run single and Brian McCann doubled to chase Leake out of the game. Meanwhile, Seattle’s bats were quieted by Garrit Cole, who earned the victory going 7-innings, allowing 1-run on 5-hits with 5 strikeouts. The two teams wrap up the 4-game series today at 12:40 as Marco Gonzalez gets the start against Charlie Morton.
