Falling rock nearly injures motorist on Blewett Pass

A motorist was fortunate to escape injury Saturday on Blewett Pass when a falling rock went through the driver-side windshield of the vehicle. Trooper John Bryant of the Washington State Patrol said the rock missed the driver’s head by mere inches.

It was one of several rocks that fell onto the roadway at milepost 177. Bryant said three vehicles suffered tire damage running over the rocks before state cleanup crews could get there. The rain over the weekend loosened the hillsides and Bryant warns motorists to be especially mindful of those dangers.
