Evacuation notices lifted on small Chumstick brush fire


LEAVENWORTH- Level 1 evacuation notices were lifted last night for some residents in the Chumstick after a two-acre brush fire was contained.

Chelan County Fire District 3 crews were called out around 5:30 in the afternoon to the fire which was located on the east side of Chumstick Highway across from Sunitsch Canyon.

Officials say it started from a blown electrical transformer. Crews from from Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue, CCFD6, DNR and USFS responded to assist.

The fire was declared contained at about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Level 1 evacuation advisory was issued for Chumstick Highway between MP 3-MP 6. No structures were damaged.
