Election roundup: Wenatchee City Council race has Herald in the lead


Linda Herald is likely headed to the November general election in the race for an at-large Wenatchee City Council seat.

Who her opponent will be has yet to be decided, with Jorge Chacon holding a slim lead over Lyle Markhart on Tuesday evening after the first round of ballots were counted.

Herald received 2,243 votes, or about 48 percent, to Chacon’s 1,315, or about 27 percent and Markhart’s 1,145 votes, or about 24 percent.

Incumbent Mike Cooney and Bob Goedde will face off in the race for Chelan mayor.

Goedde received 568 votes, or 48 percent, to Cooney’s 496 votes, or almost 42 percent.

Stan Morse was eliminated from the race with 102 votes.

Entiat voters picked mayor candidates Michael Buckingham and John Alt to face off in November.

Buckingham received 137 votes to Alt’s 121.

Sarah Tulla Marie Stenberg finished a distant third with 20 votes.
