WENATCHEE, WA.- The results from Tuesday’s election night returns have Shon Smith leading Bob Bugert for Chelan County District 2 Commissioner. Smith is holding on to a slim 51 to 49 percent lead. Smith said last night that he was confident his lead would hold
Sheriff Brian Burnett appears to have held off a challenge from his Deputy Jennifer Tyler with 65 percent of the vote going to the incumbent.

In the Chelan County Judicial contests Travis Brandt is the winner with 74 percent of the vote. Brandt was running unopposed after Judge Robert McSeveney withdrew from the race. Kristin Ferrera outpolled Charles Steinberg 68 to 32 percent. In the District Court Race, Allen Blackmon trails Kyle Mott 56 to 44 percent. Chelan County PUD Commissioner Randy Smith wins reelection over his challenger, Daryn KlinginsmithMore votes yet to count with about 11 thousand ballots outstanding.

It appears Douglas County voters have elected Marc Straub to replace Steve Jenkins as Commissioner of the County’s third District. Straub garnered 64 percent of the vote in last night’s returns to Norman Tupling’s 36 percent. Straub commented on his campaign and how he intends to represent the mostly rural third district that he represents .

Sheriff Kevin Morris held off Leeon Leyde for Douglas County Sheriff with 67 percent of the vote. In the race for Douglas County District Court Eric Biggar leads Robert Hunter with 71 percent of the vote. Two ballot measures appear to be passing in Douglas County.

The Cemetery District levy proposal is passing with 55 percent approval as is the Fire District 4 Levy with 51 percent yes vote. Auditor Thad Duvall says there are an estimated 6500 ballots remaining to be counted.

In Statewide races, Keith Goehner leads Ann Diamond in the 12th District House position 1 contest. Republican Dino Rossi is falling to Democrat Kim Schrier in the race for Dave Reichert’s 8th Congressional House seat.
