Edmonds man arrested while reportedly trying to steal his third car

The third time was not a charm for an Edmonds man.

Jared Hester, 25, crashed a stolen vehicle near Warden on Wednesday, then stole the car of the Good Samaritan who stopped to help him, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported.

But Hester wasn’t done yet.

With a Grant County Sheriff’s deputy in pursuit, Hester made his way to Interstate 90 in the stolen Ford Excursion.

He then was spotted by a Moses Lake police officer exiting onto Highway 17 and speeding through the parking lot of Shari’s Restaurant, He then went into a field where the Ford got stuck in more than a foot of water.

Hester then took off on foot to nearby West Coast Auto Sales, where the sheriff’s office reports he was arrested by pursuing deputies while trying to steal a third vehicle.

He was jailed on multiple charges, including for an outstanding warrant.

The sheriff’s office says drug use is suspected.
