East Wenatchee’s new assistant police chief was sworn in Monday, completing a turnover of top officials in the East Wenatchee Police Department.

Erik Hampton comes to East Wenatchee from the Yakima Police Department, where he had worked 22 years.

Most recently, he was the sergeant of the Gang Crime Investigation Unit in Yakima.

He also has served as a homicide detective and SWAT team leader.

The city announced Hampton’s hiring earlier this month.

Hampton replaces former Assistant Chief Ray Coble, who resigned last July. Police Chief Rick Johnson was hired by the city last June, replacing retiring longtime Chief Randy Harrison.
