WENATCHEE, WA – Eastmont edged Wenatchee 36-34 in overtime Friday in the Bridge of Sportsmanship football game. It was only the Wildcat’s 12th victory against the Panthers in the 49th meeting between the two schools dating back to 1958.
After playing 48-minutes to a 28-28 tie in regulation, Eastmont took the ball first in overtime with Manny Lopez scoring from four yards out to make it 34-28. The Wildcats came out in an off-balance, loaded left formation for the extra point, which Wenatchee didn’t cover, so Eastmont’s Calen Massey hit long-snapper Carson Everhart with a 2-point conversion. Wenatchee scored on its possession in the extra frame but missed the conversion attempt to send it into a second overtime.
Lopez, Cameron Scaramozzino and Devin Schneider combined for 335-yards on 50-rushes in the game for Eastmont. Austin Blakeny countered for Wenatchee, going 16-of-21 through the air for 246-yards and three touchdowns. Riley Kunz caught six balls for 124-yards and a touchdown while Trey Stegeman caught six passes for 82-yards and two touchdowns.
Wenatchee (3-6) travels to West Valley Friday to wrap up the season. Eastmont (5-4) will be at Sunnyside to conclude the season Friday.
