(East Wenatchee, WA)…Jeremy Anders came along and helped start the Eastmont Girls bowling team in 2012. A freshman on the team that first year was Cheyanne Greening. Fast forward four years. Greening is a senior and Anders is stepping down to chase a dream as a racetrack announcer in Monroe. But before they go, there’s just one more stop on the journey. The State Bowling Championships at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place.
Greening and her team captured the District 6 Championship Tuesday, outpacing Eisenhower, West Valley and Wenatchee with 4,084 pins…370 better than the second place Cadets. Cheyanne also won individual medalist honors with a three-game total of 686. But it wasn’t easy. NCWLIFE Channel Sports Director Eric Granstrom has the story.
Greening was also named the Big-9 Bowler of the year. Wenatchee’s Taylor Bitterman was named all league honorable mention while teammate Jessica Holbrook (who qualified for state) was second team. Eastmont’s Becca Mains was selected all-league first team. Jeremy Anders was also named the Big-9 Bowling Coach of the Year. The Wildcats will head to state next Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th.
