Eastmont beats Wenatchee 28-3 in Bridge of Sportsmanship

The annual rivalry game between Eastmont and Wenatchee Friday night at Wildcat Stadium was close for three quarters. The Panthers led the Wildcats 3-0 late in the 3rd when Gunnar Petersen broke free on a counter play to score Eastmont’s first touchdown of the game from 66-yards out to make it 7-3. The Wildcats would control the game from there, scoring on touchdown runs of 34-yards by Austin Ruffins, 8-yards by Ivan Corona and 20-yards by Colby King to win 28-3.

Petersen wound up with 12-carries for 122-yards as Eastmont rushed for 275-yards in the game and had 302-yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback Jake Devereaux performed well, completing 6-of-8 passes for 65-yards. Caden Zimmerman was his favorite target, collecting 4 receptions for 43-yards. Luke Gale was 8-for-11 for Eastmont for 80-yards, throwing 6-times to Brooks Trovato for 40-yards on the night. Eastmont improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big-9 play. Wenatchee dropped to 1-2 overall, 0-1 in Big Nine play.
