Eastmont High School graduate Stephanie Grisham has been named as the new press secretary and communications director for President Trump.
Grisham, then Stephanie Allen, graduated from Eastmont in 1994. She has been involved in Republican politics for more than a decade, starting in Arizona.
However, she took on a more national role when she worked on Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012.
She then joined Trump’s presidential campaign in 2015 and was deputy press secretary for Sean Spicer before moving to the first lady’s office.
She has been communications director for First Lady Melania Trump the past two years.
It was Melania Trump who announced Grisham’s new job in a tweet Tuesday.
She replaces Sarah Sanders as the president’s press secretary. After announcing her resignation earlier this month, Sanders leaves the post Friday.
In addition, Grisham takes on a larger role than that held by Sanders, by also replacing Bill Shine as communications director. Shine resigned in March.
