Eastmont Tries to Extend Winning

WENATCHEE, WA – The Eastmont Wildcats opened the season with an impressive 20-to-nothing shutout of Wilson last Friday. Going back to last season, it’s the 6th consecutive win for Eastmont. Senior linebacker and Captain Jaron Schneider says the team rally’s around their covenant…


Eastmont Coach Michael Don was pleased with his defense and wants to see improvement on offense tonight when his club travels to Pasco. Don says while they enjoyed the win last Friday and the six wins in a row going back to last season, it doesn’t mean the program has ARRIVED yet…

Eastmont will go for its 7th straight win tonight at 7 o’clock.

Wenatchee, meanwhile, is taking its 46-man roster to Lewiston, Idaho tonight to try to earn their first victory this season, a snap a 4-game losing streak that stretches back to last season. Coach Scott Devereaux says that means improving on pass defense after the Panthers surrendered 5 touchdown passes last week…

Cashmere and Cascade Host Tonight

A very busy prep football schedule gets underway tonight across the region…
Entiat hosts Selkirk tonight at 6. The rest of the games kick off at 7 o’clock with Eastmont at Pasco; Wenatchee’s on the road at Lewiston; Cascade hosts Ephrata; Cashmere is also home against Sultan; Chelan’s on the road at Warden; Manson hosts Oroville; and Curlew pays a visit to Waterville-Mansfield.

Quincy Tops Chelan, Eastmont VBall Falls

Taking a look at the Les Schwab Prep Scoreboard from last night, first in soccer…
Quincy defended the home pitch with a 4-1 win over Chelan in non-league play. The Cashmere/Eastmont game was postponed due to poor air quality throughout the Wenatchee Valley yesterday. So far, no makeup date has been set. We’ll keep a close eye on air quality today and tomorrow to see if it affects anymore outdoor sports.

Indoors last night in early-season volleyball…
Eastmont traveled to Selah and fell to the Vikings 3-1. The Wildcats were able to rebound from a first-game loss to win the second but were edged 26-24 in the third and 25-14 in the 4th. Cascade fell on the road at LaSalle 3-1. Manson came up with a win over Lake Roosevelt 3-1 and Chelan blanked Wenatchee 3-nothing.

Soccer, Volleyball and X-Country Events

Also on tap this weekend in prep sports…
On the prep soccer pitch tomorrow, Cascade hosts University Prep while Wahluke is at Chelan at 11am. Cashmere hosts Prosser; Hazen’s at Eastmont; and Wenatchee travels to Ingraham at 1 o’clock.

There are a couple volleyball matches tomorrow…
Cashmere hosts Cle Elum at 12:30 while Central Valley is at Wenatchee at 2:30.

And in the first cross country meets of the season…
Eastmont and Wenatchee are at the Shadle Park Invite at 9am while Cashmere at Cascade travel to the Moses Lake Invite at 10.

Wild Begin Defense of BCHL Title Tonight

The Wenatchee Wild begin defense of their BCHL Championship tonight…
They’ll be in Vernon to take on the Vipers at 7 o’clock. Following tonight’s game, they’ll play at Surrey against the Eagles tomorrow night at 7.

WVSO Featured This Weekend

There’s plenty going on around the area this weekend…
Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval features Les Schwab night at the races tomorrow night. Racing action includes the Pro Late Models; Vintage Modifieds; Thunder Cars; Street Stocks; and Roadrunners. Gates Open at 5 with racing at 6:30.

Leavenworth Golf Course is the site for the 10th Annual Cascade Couples Championship Saturday and Sunday.

And, the 46th Annual Lake Chelan Sailing Regatta is tomorrow and Sunday on Lake Chelan beginning at 10am Saturday and 2pm Sunday.

Huskies and Cougars Host Games

Here’s what we have to watch on the college gridiron this weekend…
Central Washington is on the road at Monmouth, Oregon to play Western tomorrow at 1:05. The Huskies will try to bounce back from their opening-night loss to Auburn at home tomorrow against North Dakota at 2pm on the Pac 12 Network. Eastern Washington travels to Northern Arizona at 3 and Washington State opens at home against San Jose State tomorrow night at 8pm, also on the Pac 12 Network.

M’s Host Yankees in Seattle All Weekend

The Mariners host New York in the first of three games tonight at Safeco Field…
The Bronx Bombers are, of course, in the middle of a wild American League Wild Card race with Oakland and Seattle. First pitch is at 7:10 tonight with James Paxton going up against Masahiro Tanaka.
