Wenatchee advanced to the State 4A Tournament with a 2-1 win over Moses Lake Saturday at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl.

Cashmere’s season came to an end in a 1-nil overtime loss to Freeman. Cascade advanced to State with a 2-1 win over Deer Park.

Brewster’s season came to an end in a 5-0 loss to Northwest Christian. Tonasket was also knocked out in a 6-1 defeat to Davenport.

Here’s the schedule this week. It begins on Tuesday as Wenatchee travels to Gonzaga Prep in a 1st-round game at 5:30. Eastmont will host Mead Wednesday at 6.

Cascade opens up play in the State 1-A Tournament tomorrow at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl when it takes on Wahluke.

Ephrata’s first-round opponent in the 2-A Tournament will be Liberty on the road Wednesday at 7.

Wenatchee fought valiantly against West Valley for the District Championship, but fell 3-games-to-1. Eastmont’s season was ended by Moses Lake 3-1. Then the Chiefs were bounced by the Panthers 3-1, so Wenatchee advances to State.

Chelan is the District Champs after sweeping Okanogan 3-0 Saturday at Wenatchee High. Cascade was defeated by Omak 3-1. Okanogan heads to State, winning a thriller over Omak 3-games-to-2.

Prep Volleyball Schedule

The smaller schools have their State Tournaments in the SunDome this week. Pateros takes on Neah Bay Wednesday morning at 8 in the 1B Tournament. They’ll face either Odessa or Three Rivers Christian in the second round at 3:15.

Brewster’s first opponent in the 2B Tournament Thursday will be Colfax at 1:30. They’ll play again Thursday night at 8:15 against either Willapa Valley or La Conner.

Chelan’s 1-A Tournament begins Thursday afternoon at 3:15 when they play Zillah. The Goats will turn around at 6:45 for a second-round game against either Lynden Christian or Charles Wright Academy.

Huskies win ugly, Cougars fall to Cal

The Huskies traveled to Corvallis and beat the Beavers Friday night 19-7.

Washington State got off to a horrible start at Cal and lost to the Bears 33-20.

Eastern Washington had no trouble with Idaho State, winning 48-5.

And Central Washington was an unfriendly host, beating Southwest Baptist 72-17.

Wild swept by Vees in weekend series

The Wenatchee Wild lost both games in BCHL Hockey to Penticton over the weekend…

Wenatchee’s Matt Dorsey scored the first goal of the game Friday night midway through the first period. But it was all Penticton after that with the Vees winning 4-1.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first period Saturday, Wenatchee came storming back in the second frame on goals by Nick Cafarelli, Quinn Emerson and Brian Adams. It remained tied until the 15:03 mark of the third when Jay O’Brien put the Vees back up 4-3. Penticton would add an empty-netter at the end for the final of 5-3.

Wenatchee’s on the road this week with games at Penticton Saturday and Salmon Arm Sunday.

The Rams lost to Pittsburgh yesterday 17-12 and the Cardinals were edged by Tampa Bay 30-27. A Seattle win would move the Hawks just a half-game behind San Francisco in the standings. They’ll kick off on ESPN tonight at 5:15.
