Country Country Academic Champs

EAST WENATCHEE – The Eastmont Wildcats cross country team has been crowned state champs – in the classroom. The Fall Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association’s (WIAA) State Academic Champion list is out, and the Eastmont boys cross country team’s 3.95 GPA was tops among 4A schools.

This marks the 9th time since the WIAA began the Academic Champions program in 1993 to win a title. Coach Gary Millard’s boys cross country team won it in 2000. In addition, scholar titles were handed to the ’93 boys basketball team; ’95 boys swim team; ’96 girls tennis team; ’03 girls track team; ’04 girls basketball team; ’14 girls track; and ’15 boys wrestling. In an email from Eastmont Athletic Director Russ Waterman, he congratulated Coach Millard and his assistants Marty Gwinn and Hannah Moreland.
