East Wenatchee warning semi drivers to stay on designated truck routes

Truckers are being warned that starting Oct. 1 they better stay on the designated truck route in East Wenatchee or they’ll face a $200 fine.

The rules apply to trucks that have a gross weight over 26,000 pounds.

In East Wenatchee, those trucks are only allowed on Sunset Highway and on Grant Road as far east as Kentucky Avenue.

There is an exception on Eastmont Avenue and Ninth Street for commercial vehicles hauling certain agricultural products.

The Truck Route Enforcement campaign includes digital signs now in place warning truckers of the enforcement effort and potential fines.
