WATERVILLE — A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy says a motorist tried to bribe him to get out of a DUI arrest.

Juan Antonio Valle, 47, of Wenatchee, was allegedly driving impaired early Monday on Highway 28 at Rock Island when the deputy pulled him over. Valle allegedly declined a breath test, but then offered $10,000 to the deputy if he would remove his handcuffs and let him go.

The deputy said Valle also made implicit threats to the deputy’s family. Bribery is a class B felony in Washington. Prosecutors have yet to file a formal charge.
