ORONDO- A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy was injured yesterday morning while trying to arrest a man in an alleged assault at an Orondo fruit warehouse.

Sheriff Harvey Gjedal reports the Deputy located the suspect who fled from the warehouse and ran into a nearby house. Another Deputy attempted speak to the suspect through a window.

The suspect allegedly put his fist through the window and sprayed the Deputy with shards of glass. He then reportedly went to a door and kicked it hard enough that it broke the door frame.

Deputies deescalated the suspect and he finally came out. He was arrested for malicious mischief.

The victim of the assault was not injured and declined to cooperate with charging. The Deputy was treated for minor injuries to his face.
