Deputies: Kidnapping suspect threatened victim’s family

WENATCHEE — Chelan County sheriff’s deputies say a 19-year old East Wenatchee man abducted his former girlfriend from a Wenatchee parking lot and and forced her to guide him to the home of another man in Ellensburg.

Deputies arrested Trey Michael Haberlock on Saturday morning, on suspicion of first-degree assault, kidnapping, robbery and harassment. The victim said Haberlock held her at knifepoint in his vehicle, struck and threatened her repeatedly, and drove her to Kittitas County and back.

The woman had been in a relationship with Haberlock for about two and a half years but recently ended it, deputies said. She told investigators she agreed to meet Haberlock late Thursday at the Easy Street Park and Ride in north Wenatchee. When she did, he allegedly drove her to an undeveloped area off Rolling Hills Lane, where he began striking her and produced a knife.

Deputies said Haberlock then drove with the woman to Ellensburg, threatening and striking her throughout the journey, at one point chasing her on foot and pulling her back to the vehicle when she tried to escape. He allegedly seized her cellphone and other belongings during the drive.

Haberlock allegedly ordered the woman to guide him to the home of a man he believed she had become involved with in Ellensburg. Afterwards, deputies said, he brought her back to Wenatchee and released her early Friday, making threats toward her and her family if she spoke to police.

Haberlock was due to make his first appearance today in Chelan County Superior Court. He remains held in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center. Deputies say they’re still investigating the case.
