Crystal Fire

EAST WENATCHEE,WA. –No structures were lost but it was a close call Saturday in the East Wenatchee area when a brush fire broke out. The Crystal Fire started after midnight in the area of Nile and 10th Street Northeast just North of Pangborn Airport. The fire quickly spread fueled by erratic winds and extremely dry conditions. Level Two evacuations were issued for about 40 homes. Additional  resources were called after Douglas County Fire District 2 Chief Dave Baker requested State Mobilization.

The fire came perilously close to several homes in the 10th street area but none were damaged. Crews from mulitple agencies responded and they worked through the weekend putting out hotspots before declaring the fire fully contained Monday afternoon. The fire scorched over 26-hundred acres of grass, brush and sage.
