Crews Battling Wind-Driven Chelan Fires


CHELAN,WA.- Crews in Chelan County responded to two wind-fueled brush fires this morning in the Chelan area. The two fires went to three-alarms this morning. The first was reported in the Navarre Coulee Road area near Milepost 7 west of Chelan and a second blaze along South Lakeshore Drive.

The fires were were first reported in the 4 oclock hour. We’re being told that the Navarre Coulee fire is now in mop up. The South Lakeshore fire was reportedly burning near Fields Point Landing. At last report it had crested the hill with Crews from Chelan County Fire Districts 5, 7 and 8 have responded. Level Two notices were issued for homes in the area. Both fires were estimated at about 2 acres each.
