COVID-19 deaths in Wenatchee Valley now number 24

EAST WENATCHEE — The Chelan-Douglas Health District on Tuesday announced the 24th death from COVID-19 in the two-county region — the second local male patient in his 40s to die of the pandemic disease.

The district says this brings the total number of deaths in Chelan County from the pandemic to 17, plus a total of seven in Douglas County. The most recent previous death attributed to the novel coronavirus was disclosed Friday — also a Chelan County man in his 40s, accounting for the youngest known victim of the disease in the area.

Health officials continue to encourage wearing facial masks and maintaining six feet of social distance in public. The pandemic has so far claimed more than 2,100 lives in Washington, and 205,000 nationwide.
