Courthouse in Waterville closes for the day after extended power outage

After being without power for about three hours Wednesday, the Douglas County Courthouse in Waterville has closed for the day.

Power is out to about 1,100 Douglas County PUD customers in the Waterville Plateau.

The outage was first reported shortly after 10 Wednesday morning.

At 1 p.m. the PUD reported that crews found a downed line in a canyon.

They then began experimenting with alternate power supplies and have intermittently energized sections and expect to have power restored soon.

A statement from the county cited the “prolonged effects of a power outage” in announcing the courthouse was closing.

The courthouse is expected to reopen in the morning.
