WENATCHEE — A Wenatchee man with a history of domestic violence allegedly resisted police in a long overnight standoff after threatening his family members.

Police say Daniel Arzate Lopez, 34, threatened to cut the throats of family members at his home in the 1600 block of Ridgeview Lane about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday. He apparently also set a small fire in a bedroom of the house while a multi-agency Special Response Team gathered outside.

Lopez finally surrendered to police about 6 a.m. Wednesday. He has several prior felony convictions, including pleas in 2017 to charges of domestic violence assault, unlawful firearm possession and methamphetamine possession. That year a judge sentenced him to almost 13 months in a prison-based drug treatment program.

Police say he’ll now face new charges including assault and obstructing police. He was due to make his first apperaance this afternoon in Chelan County Superior Court.
