Confluence Health has hired the former chief medical officer at SCL Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado, as its new CEO.
The Confluence Board of Directors announced today they have unanimously agreed to hire Dr. Andrew Jones, who will replace retiring Dr. Peter Rutherford.
“The board wanted to ensure the next CEO had both experience and character to support the Confluence Health mission. Dr. Andrew Jones has the expertise and commitment to meet the diverse and growing needs of our rural four counties,” said Doug Shae, chairman of the Confluence Health board.
Rutherford, who has been CEO since 2012, had planned to retire in the fall of 2021 but agreed to stay on when his designated replacement, Dr. Douglas Wilson, announced he was leaving Confluence Health instead.
Jones also served as vice president of medical affairs for the health system in Grand Junction.
Confluence said Jones and his wife, Ronya Anna, will move to North Central Washington next month after his two children finish the school year.
In a press release, Confluence said the hiring came after a six-month nationwide search for a new CEO.
