OLYMPIA – In an announcement by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction on Monday, nearly $1-million dollars in grants were awarded to improve access to computer science and related educational programs in Washington state.

The 2018-19 grantee list includes the Manson School District who will receive $19,272.00 and the Ephrata School District who will be granted $49,600.00.

The grants allow districts, schools, and nonprofits to train teachers and provide and upgrade technology. In addition, the grants expand computer science access to groups of students who have historically been under-represented in computer science programs and careers.

The state grant funds will be matched equally by private sources, which effectively doubles the total grant amount to $2 million.
