Community turns out to wish WWII veteran a happy 100th birthday

Friends, fellow veterans, and the Wenatchee Wild joined forces Sunday to say happy birthday to a local World War II vet.

Luciene Ott

Luciene Ott of East Wenatchee will turn 100 years old this Thursday.

His well-wishers held a car parade passing by his home on Fourth Street, with members of the Wenatchee Wild hockey team joining in.

In addition, East Wenatchee police and other law enforcement agencies drove by with their birthday wishes.

Ott was an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, keeping Allied planes up and flying, and he’s lived in the Wenatchee Valley ever since.
