Community Toy Drive in Full Swing

Toys and Donations will benefit over 400 children in the Wenatchee Valley

WENATCHEE, WA – A dozen volunteers gathered on the third floor of Wenatchee’s old Federal Building Sunday to sort toys that have been donated thus far during the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive.  So far, about 100 toys, games, action figures and bicycles have been donated along with over $16,000.

Toy Drive Chair and Les Schwab Area Manager Kirk Moser says it’s a good start, “but more is needed.  We have well over 400 kids that are in need in our community who we’re trying to make sure have a toy for Christmas.  The cash contributions from area businesses and individuals has been incredible so far, but donations of new, unwrapped toys would really help.”

The Community Toy Drive beneficiaries are Serve Wenatchee Valley; the Bruce House; and CASA.  These organizations have identified a specific list of children in need, complete with age and gender, to help provide Toy Drive volunteers with a “shopping list”.  Speaking of shopping, Moser says they’ll be using expert, kid shoppers to help purchase toys for children in need.  “We’ve hand-picked some great kids in the community who will be the actual shoppers when we go out to Hooked On Toys in December and choose what toys to get the kids.  NCWLIFE and KKRV will be featuring our so-called Kid Experts coming soon, so be sure to watch for that.”

The Kid Expert videos are currently in production and will roll out later this week on Country 104.7FM KKRV’s and NCWLIFE’s Facebook pages featuring four area children who will be doing the shopping at Hooked On Toys.  In addition, for those wanting to purchase toys themselves, a shopping list is available by going to the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive Facebook page.

Toy donations are gladly accepted at NCWLIFE at 201 S. Chelan Avenue in Wenatchee; KKRV at 1124 N. Miller Street in Wenatchee; Les Schwab Tires at 1643 N. Wenatchee Avenue in Wenatchee and 301 Grant Road in East Wenatchee; Sangster Motors 912 N. Miller Street; Worx Gym at 12 N.
