Chelan PUD commissioners honor former general manager who died in September

Chelan County PUD Commissioners paid tribute today to former General Manager Jerry Copp, who died in September.

Copp served as general manager from 1982 to 1992. Commission Chairman Garry Arseneault described Copp as a leader, gentleman and intellectual.

He could “relate to Wall Street at the highest levels, but also to each and every employee at the PUD,” Arseneault said.

Commissioner Dennis Bolz commented on Copp’s advice to him as a candidate when he ran for election.

“A statement that he made may have set the tone for the election, Bolz said. “He just said, ‘what I really want you to concentrate on is you’re not running against your opponent, you’re running for the PUD.’ I think that statement really spoke deeply about Jerry’s love and commitment to this organization.”

Copp died of natural causes at the age of 86.  He was survived by his wife, Barbara.
