Chelan Co. Sheriff’s Office to host holiday shopping event for Chelan, Manson children

Chelan County Deputy Adam Musgrove, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 17 and organizer of the Chelan cops and kids shopping event.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office will host a cops and kids event for a number of Chelan and Manson children in need, taking them Christmas shopping for their families on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

“We’ve selected some children from the Chelan and Manson area and we’ll team them up with an officer on Tuesday,” said Deputy Adam Musgrove, who helped organize the event in conjunction with the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 17. “It’s going to be a really great time and hopefully make a great Christmas for some families in Chelan.”

Musgrove said the Sheriff’s Office received a $2,000 donation for the event from the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, among other generous gifts from local businesses and citizens.

Local firefighters will also attend the event, as well as a special appearance from Santa to help the children shop and wrap presents at Walmart, just north of downtown Chelan.

“Nothing feels better than making some little boy or girl’s Christmas,” Musgrove said. “Being able to give back and give them some time with law enforcement officers, maybe they had parents that didn’t have a great relationship with law enforcement so to give them that time to show them that we’re good guys and we want to be there for them.”

The event is an opportunity for the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office to connect with the community during this holiday season.

“I just want to thank all of the people that donated, the businesses including Cashmere Valley Bank, the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, Walmart and all of the people that stopped by our office to drop off gift cards,” Musgrove said. “I can’t thank them enough, they are really going to make some great Christmases this year.”
