The Chelan County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing about short-term vacation rentals from 7-9 p.m. this Wednesday at the Confluence Technology Center.
Commissioners and staff from Chelan County will discuss the next steps in moving forward with management on short-term vacation rentals such as Airbnb and VRBO.
Currently there are no regulations on short-term rentals in unorganized areas in Chelan County. Because of this, homeowners have taken advantage of renting out rooms and houses to guests for anywhere from $20 to $1,000.
The county is considering adding regulations for vacation rentals which include changes such as; limiting number of guests, limiting short-term rentals, requiring short-term rental permits with the county, and creating a fine system for a violation of operations.
The meeting will run as a public hearing, so no public testimony will be allowed.
