A Central Washington University student has tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

The Kittitas County Health Department had announced last week that the student, who had recently traveled to China, was being isolated and tested after displaying flu-like symptoms at the Ellensburg university.

There have been 638 deaths attributed to the virus in China, with most in the Hubei province.

There have been 12 confirmed cases in the United States but no deaths.

One of the confirmed cases in the U.S. was a Snohomish County man who had traveled to China.
