Cashmere man killed

A Cashmere man was declared dead at the scene following a traffic accident on Stine Hill Road Saturday afternoon. Andy Zimmerman with the Chelan County Sheriff’s office says it happened around 3:40 PM.

He reports 29 year old Jose Arroyo Mejia was Eastbound when his car went off the road and collided with a rock embankment. Zimmerman says the driver was going to fast and failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection with Pine Flats Loop Road.

Nearby residents reported hearing a loud explosion. Callers to 911 also reported seeing pieces of the Subaru Impreza on the ground with the driver possibly trapped inside. There were no passengers. The roadway was blocked for about three hours during the investigation.
