WENATCHEE,WA.-Travel restrictions over the Washington Cascades is a nightmare for motorists today but the weather-related closure of I-90 Snoqualmie Pass and US 2 Tumwater Canyon is also causing freight mobility problems.

Vehicles over 10,000 pounds are not permitted to use the Chumstick Highway as an alternative route over Stevens Pass forcing truck traffic to detour over Highway 12 White Pass or South to the Columbia Gorge. There is no estimated time for reopening Snoqualmie Pass.

Over 53 inches of snow was measured by the DOT avalanche crew at the summit over the past 48 hours. Air travel between East Wenatchee and SeaTac continues out of Pangborn Airport during the storm. Horizon Airlline crews were out early this morning working hard to get the 6:30 flight off on time.
