Wenatchee Valley Empty Bowls is an annual event designed to bring together the community through creative expression and hunger relief education. With a $10 dollar donation to the North Central Washington Food Distribution Center, anyone can receive a blank bowl that they will be given all the materials and instruction needed to personalize it with paint. For $35 a family can paint up to 5 bowls. Your bowl then gets a final layer of glaze and is fired into a finished masterpiece. Your donation includes admission into dinner at Wenatchee High School on March 2nd, where everyone will gather around a simple soup and bread dinner to work against hunger in our community. At the dinner, guests will be able to bid on donated silent auction items, listen to musical performances by local artists, and engage in conversations about hunger and hunger relief efforts. After the dinner guests will take home their bowls as a reminder of all the bowls that go empty in our community.
The NCW Food Distribution Center, a program of Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council, helps support local food banks and meal programs to better serve these community members and reduce the stress felt from not having enough to eat, or knowing where the next meal may come from.
