A bridge project on Blewett Pass near Swauk Creek campground means flagger-controlled delays of up to 20 minutes this week for motorists. The Washington State Department of Transportation had hoped to have a bypass lane opened by today. Unfortunately, that won’t happen until tomorrow. They will then reduce speed limits to 50 miles per hour as vehicles move into the bypass lane.
Washington State Department of Transportation is replacing an old culvert with a bridge as part of the four-point-five-million-dollar project. In particular, the state says the culvert, which record runoff overran in 2011, has been a barrier to salmon and trout.
