Barricaded suspect in Quincy surrenders after police deploy gas


A suspect surrendered after police deployed gas at a Quincy home this morning following a standoff with police.

Quincy police say the standoff followed a high-speed chase about 4 a.m. in which police tried to pull over 28-year-old Jose A. Villela, who was wanted on domestic violence and stalking charges.

Villela reportedly led pursuers to the home in the 500 block of L Street and barricaded himself inside.

Believing he was armed, police called in the tactical response team.

After getting two family members out of the house, police deployed a CS gas and Villela surrendered shortly after 9 a.m.

The tactical response team is comprised of personnel from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the Moses Lake Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. V

illela was booked into jail on numerous charges related to the domestic violence case, the pursuit and a DUI warrant.
